About StarsScene…
StarsScene was created in 2007 with help from the now defunct MVN blog network and was originally a blog devoted to covering the NHL’s Dallas Stars. After a year, it left the MVN nest and became a stand alone blog with no affiliations. It continued to be the home for Dallas Stars insight until 2009 when writer (and blog creator) Art Middleton joined the writing staff of Defending Big D on SB Nation. With Art’s Dallas Stars focus set on that website, in April 2009, StarsScene widened it’s focus to all of hockey and gradually to all of sports. In February, it’s re-launch as a general sports blog was completed (aka: in a server mishap, all previous written content was lost) and since has been focused on strong sports opinions.
About the writer…
Art Middleton (Founder, head writer, lead editor & overall nice guy)
My name is Art Middleton and I was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in 1977 and after multiple moves as a kid that has saw me live from the dusty prairie of Saskatchewan to the pacific coast of British Columbia and back again, I now reside in Edmonton, Alberta fending off brutal (ok, maybe not that brutal) attacks from various Oiler and Eskimo fans as I am a devoted Dallas Stars and Calgary Stampeders fan and have never been afraid to wave the colors of either team in hostile territory.
Raised in a family where sports was never really a priority, somehow I grew to not only love sports but be completely fanatical about it. I played baseball, football and basketball all through my school years but strangely enough never played organized hockey even though it’s always been my first love.
Another passion of mine growing up was writing and I did so as much as possible and even wrote regular columns in the local paper for my high school.
Fast forward about 15 years or so and here I am combining my love of writing with my obsession with sports. Of course I’ll write about the Stars and the Stamps, but I’ll also show some love for the Minnesota Twins and the San Antonio Spurs who I also happen to be a huge fan of. I’ve always been told that with my rantings and ravings I should have my own TV show… Sadly I have a face that’s perfect for radio and a voice that’s perfect for newspaper and newspaper as we know is a dying medium, so it’s this blog here that I resort to in order to get my voice out there!
On top owning and writing for this site here, I also write for Defending Big D on SB Nation where most of my Stars thoughts and rantings go as of April of 2009.
